My creative walk started professionally right out of high school. My approach toward design was much different than most. I started in design because of a need, not a desire. I wanted to start a business at 17 years old and had no start up cash. In the 90′s most schools offered very limited programming curriculum when it came to the web, so I taught myself.
In 1998 I started my very first business which was one of the first online retail stores for cellular phone accessories. The profits derived from the cell phone accessory site funded my next venture and drove my passion for online business. In 1999 I started a second online store selling GoPed brand scooters and parts. In 2001 I opened a retail store, in 2002 started selling wholesale and in 2005 closed my business after the new helmet and small motorized vehicle licensing laws brought sales to a crawl.
I believe I have an advantage over my competition because I was a business owner before I began designing and developing marketing tools for other businesses. I am not sure I understand how someone could provide such services with out some sort of hands on business experience in the real world.
